Liberian Mother Praised After Refusing L$10,000 in Viral Honesty Test

A video showing a Monrovia mother refusing to keep L$10,000 planted by a prankster went viral across Liberian social media, sparking praise for her honesty — and a surprise happy ending.

A video that has kept circulating on Liberian social media shows Princess L. Bloar, a mother of three, refusing to pocket L$10,000 that a local prankster, known online as "Royalty Prank," deliberately dropped near her along the Robertsfield Highway as part of a staged honesty test.

Despite repeated encouragement to keep the money, Bloar picked it up and put it back down, telling the prankster, "It's not for me." When he revealed the setup and asked what would make her happy, she mentioned needing exactly L$10,000 to cover her daughter's graduation fee — the same amount she had just turned down. He gave her the cash.

"You sure this money is for me?" Bloar asked, before accepting it. She later said her approach to money was guided by a simple rule from her employer: "Whatever you see should not tempt you."

The clip struck a chord well beyond the original video, with viewers holding it up as a symbol of everyday integrity. Bloar, who works for Lenise Home Care & Support Services and has previously been recognized by her employer for her conduct, also received an unexpected L$30,000 gift from an anonymous well-wisher after the video spread.
