Lone Star Drawn With Mali, Cape Verde and Rwanda in 2027 AFCON Qualifiers
Liberia's national team, the Lone Star, has been placed in Group K alongside Mali, Cape Verde and Rwanda for qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Liberia's national football team, the Lone Star, has been drawn into Group K for qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, alongside Mali, Cape Verde and Rwanda.
The draw was held in Cairo, Egypt, a day after the Liberia Football Association appointed Mohammed Adil Erradi as head coach on a three-year contract. Erradi previously coached Rwanda's APR FC, where he won three league titles and put together a 50-match unbeaten run.
The group offers no easy passage: Mali are established continental regulars, while Cape Verde are considered one of West Africa's most organized sides. Qualifying will be played across three FIFA international windows between September 2026 and March 2027, with six matchdays in total.
Liberia has not appeared at the Africa Cup of Nations finals in 24 years. The 2027 tournament is scheduled to be held in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from June 19 to July 17.
