Liberia's National Elections Commission and the UNDP held a regional consultation in Buchanan on a new Civic and Voter Education Strategic Plan covering 2026 to 2030.

Liberia's National Elections Commission (NEC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) held a regional consultation in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, on 5 October to discuss a new Civic and Voter Education (CVE) Strategic Plan for 2026 to 2030, according to The New Dawn.

The strategy, titled "Building an Informed, Participatory, Inclusive and Engaged Citizenry for Sustainable Democracy", comes about three years before the next general elections in 2029. It is aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4.7 and is to reach people through mass media, digital channels, community outreach, educational institutions and town hall meetings.

Particular attention is to go to groups that are often harder to reach: women, young people, first-time voters, persons with disabilities and rural communities. Participants in the consultation included civil society groups, local authorities, faith-based organisations and the media.

NEC Oversight Commissioner for Civic and Voter Education Cllr. Ernestine Morgan Awar, UNDP electoral specialist Robert Irish and NEC Deputy Executive Director for External Relations Samuel B. Cole were named among the officials involved. The consultation is part of the NEC's early preparations; the plan has not yet been reported as finalised.
