China and the United States have jointly called on Iran to honor its commitment not to develop nuclear weapons, in one of several deliverables announced following high-level talks between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump in Washington.

The call came as part of Xi's state visit to the United States, which included meetings at the White House on September 24. The two leaders framed their broader discussions around building what they described as "a constructive China-U.S. relationship of strategic stability," based on respect, fairness and reciprocity.

Beyond the joint statement on Iran, the talks produced understandings covering trade, counter-narcotics cooperation, an artificial intelligence dialogue, military crisis communication, and support for international access to key waterways, according to officials briefed on the summit.

Neither government detailed specific enforcement steps tied to the Iran statement, and it was not immediately clear what, if any, response Tehran would offer. The nuclear issue has remained a persistent point of friction in the region alongside separate tensions over shipping security in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

Liberia Today will continue to monitor developments on this story as more details become available.
